This beautiful piece is done using a combination of compeer software and acrylic paints by

Tiffany M. Shackelford

from Maineville, Ohio

Tiffany graduated High School in May of 2005.

Theme: My piece represents the gravitational pull opposites have on each other. My idea for this piece came from my many different interests. My idea for the title and overall theme came from two news books I received: one called The Philosophy of Star Wars and another called Angel Sanctuary. Since the whole series of Star Wars is on the dark side of verses the light naturally they'd have a section devoted to the subject in the book. Angel Sanctuary is about angels and demons fighting and how not all the demons are bad and not all angels are good. Angel Sanctuary is also a manga novel. My mangas have a great hold on my work as well for I draw in that same style known anime or japanimation. I put humanoid charters in my piece basically because that's what I'm best at drawing, I made them kissing in the picture not only for the theme but because I've never done it before. Most of my pieces have people fighting and killing each other. I like the mindless violence, it's one of my favorite parts of my works and manga, but I also enjoy the romantic aspects of many of my mangas so I decided to give it a try.

Biography: I didn't take many art class in high school. I took the basic art class so I could take photography my junior year. Other than that I've only had jewelry, ceramics and stained glass. I didn't really enjoy my art class. Some projects I liked others I just couldn't stand. I also had a real problem with an art teacher. We couldn't get along very well because I thought he wasn't fair in his grading toward certain people in his classes and his constantly throwing away students large projects when they asked him to hold them to the end of the day when a parent could come get them. Other classes I have taken that I enjoyed were my seven woodshops, Tech Ed, creative writing and aviation.

I'm currently taking flying lessons now. I have nearly fifty hours flight time. I'm hoping to have my pilot's license by the end of August in time for school That way I'll be able to drop two classes and pick up two more. I love flying more than anything and I want to get to the point where I can fly one handed so I can take pictures while I'm flying for my photography art. I'm a shutter bug by all means of the word. Photography is probably the one type of art you can't ever mess up at. You can capture such beautiful memories with a camera. I've coated my bedroom walls with my favorite memories.

I've never won any awards for anything while in school. I might have won something in the school art show if I had entered those projects instead of my woodshop ones which were artistic in their own way, but they don't give art awards to shop projects. The only project I had that came close to an award was my honorable mention for my miniature gallows shelf I made for my dolls. I heard it knocked them dead at the show....Sorry bad pun.
