THEME: The theme of Sharing The Universe can be described as teaching and spreading the knowledge about Astronomy to people who may not know a lot about it. If young people find interest in science they may grow up to become scientists and benefit the World. Also, if one knows a lot about something, they should share what they know so others can know it also and then share it with others. The background images of Sharing the Universe come from the deep sky photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. (This magnificent piece is done in oil paints and featured throughout our site as the background image)
BIOGRAPHY: Since pre-school, I've been very artistic. I attended a school that encouraged and emphasized art, The Waldorf School. When I transferred to public school I continued with art taking Studio in Art Classes into High School. I took many elective classes and advanced classes where I earned college credit. On Saturdays and during the summer, I took pre-college classes at the School of Visual Arts where I will be attending as a full time student in the fall.
Another main interest of mine is Astronomy. I took an elective astronomy class in high school, and I am a member of the Amateur Observers' Society of New York. It was tough to choose between a future in art and a future in Astronomy. This is why I hope to be able to combine my artistic abilities with my knowledge and interest in Astronomy. The major I have chosen is Computer Art. I understand that there are many ways this typeof art can mix with television, or video games. I am also inspired by the computer graphics animations of simulated events which are commonly seen on the NASA website. These are my goals and I hope that my participation in this scholarship will help me achieve them.
