This beautiful piece is done using compeer software by
Patrick L. Ready
from Arlington, Texas
Patrick graduated High School in May of 2005.
Theme: The main theme of this artwork is "explore. "The dock represents the hope of some form of life equal to ours on another planet, and the sky shows a possible out-view from another planet. This artwork expresses the importance of celestial exploration, in hopes of finding other planets that are habitable and have intelligence equal to or superior to our own, Realizing that there are billions of galaxies, there surely must be a percentage of planets that resembles our own. Although there are some people, who speculate whether or not there are any "green men", there has to be some kind of promise of other life throughout the vast universe.
Biography: My name is Patrick Ready- I was born in Arlington, Texas on 26, August 1987. Since I was in kindergarten, I have had an interest in photographic art. s I grew older, I started to develop a keen interest in computers. Over the years, I have combined these two interests, and have become engrossed with computer art or "mixed media". I started learning the basics of Web Mastering as a sophomore in high School. During this class, I learned to use a tremendously versatile software package known as Adobe Photoshop. Using Adobe Photoshop I realized that the boundaries of "mixed media" art were almost limitless. About this same time, I also developed an interest in space art. Developing space art allows me to experiment by utilizing a large variety of tools such as brushes, layers and lighting styles offered by this program. Almost everyday I practice on my own to develop the best artwork I could.
I was in many extracurricular activities throughout high school, so most of my artwork resembles some of the other things I do in my life. I was on the wrestling team all four years of my high school career, and I learned many things from the experience. Wrestling taught me a lot about self-discipline, respect, maturity and provided me with an experience in working under pressure. I received the Spirit Award, a Varsity Letter for wrestling in the "152 pound" weight class, and the Tony Warren Wrestling Essay Scholarship. Related to art: I developed a "Warrior Wrestling" T-shirt design, which was displayed in the Power Point presentation at the Wrestling banquet.
I also was in the Martin Chess Club all four years of high school. I learned how to problem solve, as well as how to learn from mistakes. I played in a chess tournament hosted by Lamar High School my sophomore year, as well as the tournaments hosted by Martin. Chess has changed and inspired my life, as well as my artwork. My senior scrapbook held the theme called "the endgame", which represented the fact that I was about to graduate.
My artwork is mostly space art because of my fascination with the science fiction genre. I will take a picture of landscape and then add a space theme, as I have done in the "Celestial Skies". I use Adobe Photoshop 7 to develop my artwork, and I do it all from scratch using Photoshop. I have had my artwork displayed at the Martin High School balderdash, which is an art festival held there annually. I also displayed my artwork in Martin's Literary/Art magazine publication in 2005. I will begin my college career at the University of North Texas this fall. My plans for a post-secondary education are to major in computer science. After I receive my bachelors degree in Computer Science, I plan to obtain a career in the video game development industry where I hope to display even more of my artwork.
